We're thrilled to announce the publication of our first 150 page volume of eight books for beginning readers: Cat and Tad. Following a basic phonological sequence, each book adds a new skill and slowly increases in level of challenge. Cat and Tad aligns with a phonics-based reading curriculum to provide plenty of low-pressure opportunities to practice reading and boost childrens' confidence, stamina and skill development.

Using Cat and Tad to practice reading will build a child’s:

  • Letter sound skills
  • Ability to sound out words
  • Sight word recognition
  • Reading comprehension
  • Confidence as a reader

Why are our books different?

Cat and Tad has improved upon the traditional early reader in many big ways.

  • Cat and Tad is written by a literacy specialist and follows an evidence-based scope and sequence.

  • The text is developmentally appropriate for an early reader but doesn’t skimp on opportunities for vocabulary building.

  • New reading skills are gradually added to build on the last and ensure that readers have plenty of opportunity to practice and build confidence.

  • Each book in Cat and Tad comes with a ‘grown-up reader’ page to provide guidance on how to strengthen a child’s reading and comprehension skills.

  • Cat and Tad features colorful and humorous painted illustrations that engage and motivate young children.

How Now’s early readers boost children’s skills, confidence, and independence as readers, and make for a joyful reading experience for reader and grown-up alike.
